Image Preprocessing
Input drawings are auto-converted to grayscale, contrast-enhanced (CLAHE), and denoised. Dynamically tiled into overlapping 640×640 tiles (80px overlap) based on drawing size to ensure complete recognition of elements spanning tile boundaries.
YOLOv8 v2 Inference
Each tile passes through the YOLOv8 model, outputting bounding boxes, class labels, and confidence scores. P&ID model covers 20 classes; instrument drawing model covers 8 classes. Both optimized with mAP50 as the primary quality metric.
NMS Deduplication
Overlapping predictions across tiles are merged using Non-Maximum Suppression (NMS, IoU threshold 0.45) to eliminate duplicate detections. Produces a final component list in drawing coordinate space.
DXF Layer Output
Components are assigned to corresponding DXF layers (e.g. VALVE, INSTRUMENT, PIPE). Outputs an AutoCAD R2013-compatible DXF file with block insertion points aligned to original drawing coordinates — ready to overlay and edit in any CAD application.
